Simpa Networks seeks a world-class Lead Software Engineer to to join our growing Technology team. We are a fast-paced, mission-driven company based in Bangalore, India expanding our presence into 3+ Indian states in 2013.
To meet the needs of the organization’s rapid growth, Simpa is searching for a highly technical, hands-on, motivated software developer, with experience in building scalable world class software platforms. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing core functionality of our the software platform and help build a team of software developers to grow our organization. Working closely with the Product Design team and Product Management teams, you will help implement functionalities required to support a scalable architecture. You must enjoy working in a fast-paced startup environment and be passionate about positively impacting the world.

Simpa is selling solar energy systems on a pay-as-you-go basis to underserved consumers in emerging markets. Customers make a small initial payment for a high-quality solar PV system and then pay for the energy service, topping up their systems in small user-defined increments using a mobile phone. Each payment for energy also adds towards the final purchase price. Once fully paid, the system unlocks permanently and delivers free solar energy. The innovative pricing model is called Progressive Purchase, and Simpa is already live with customers in Karnataka, India. Simpa helps its customers transform a daily expenditure for energy into ownership of a valuable asset. The business model is disruptive and highly scalable, re-imagining the value chain for delivering energy access at the base of the economic pyramid.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
● Develop and implement core features of Simpa RMS platform.
● Work with Lead Software Engineer to design and implement modules within RMS platform.
● Learn quickly Opensource technologies used within RMS platform, and recommend new tools as required for the project.
● Hands-on coding and implementation experience in Java and J2EE technologies.
● Manage day-to-day software development activities, which includes requirements analysis, code development, maintenance and bug fixing.
● Assist in recruitment and interview process to add new developers to the team.
● Work closely with QA teams to build end-to-end testing strategy.
● Interface with customers to understand the requirements for a specific project, and scope out the total effort required for such an implementation.
● Help setup and maintain Simpa’s production environments.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience in a fast paced, performance-oriented environment creating scalable software platforms.
● Total of 4+ years experience in progressively evolving software development positions, preferably in global organizations focused on rapid development of software products.
● At least 3+ years experience in core programming skills (hands-on) using Opensource technologies in Java.
● Must have experience in developing solutions using Spring Framework, Hibernate and Struts.
● Must have experience using build tools and source control management.
● Must have experience with jQuery and Ajax.
● Experience building websites for gathering user information is a big plus.
● Experience with SMS platforms, XML and Opensource Java architectures is a big plus.
