• Unix/Linux expert, should have worked on Debian


• Strong grasp of commands and how to use them


• Should know shell scripting – sed, awk perl are a bonus


• Able to configure and maintain the following services – Apache 2, Syslogd, DNS(bind preferable, others are also fine), sshd, mysqld, vsftpd, subversion.


• 2 years experience will be nice


• Understanding of deploying sites in development, testing, staging and production from a repository and otherwise is needed


• Must be able to diagnose problems and implement solutions in short periods of time


• Must follow good sysadmin practices such as backing up filesbefore editing, and commenting the changes done.


• Some PHP, HTML, Javascript knowledge to diagnose pages is helpful


• Any certifications like RHCE, CCNA enhance the hiring probabilities
